a king's palace
"the lizard you can take in your hands, yet it is in kings' palaces." Proverbs 30:28
I woke up for some reason (thank you Lord!) this morning around 3:45 am. As I was trying to go back to sleep I felt something on my leg. I scratched my knee and then decided I'd imagined it. A minute or so later I felt something again, this time I could tell it was something crawling up my leg. I bolted upright and turned on the light and in a whisper yell (if that is such a thing) as to not wake up the girls said, "WOODY, THERE'S A BUG IN THE BED!" He was pretty out of it and didn't seem to care, but got up to go the bathroom. I pulled back the comforter and then the sheet and heard something jump and land on the bookcase and then I saw it...again in the whisper yell, "IT'S A BABY LIZARD, IT"S GREEN!" Not wanting the lizard to get back in the bed, I ran to get a cup to catch him. (As Woody later said, I was the south Georgia girl who'd never had a problem catching lizards before...but this was different, not only was he in the house, he was in our BED!!) Anyway, the whole event was pretty comical and I even found myself laughing, but also ready to jump on the bed if the lizard came my way. And I know I screamed out a few times, in a whisper sort of way of course, again as to not wake the girls! I was determined to get him and was thinking, please Lord let me catch him because I am NOT getting back in the bed until he is out of the house! Woody helped steer the lizard away from the bed and finally I got him. Then came taking him out on our deck in my jammies in the 30 something degree cold! With adrenaline pumping, it took quite awhile to get back to sleep... I remember saying, "I can't believe we had a lizard in our bed!" And Woody replied, "I can't believe you're still awake."
I mean, would you be able to go back to sleep if a lizard had crawled on you??
We have A LOT of lizards where we live and I've gotten used to them for the most part, but this was a completely new experience... one that I never want to go through again! How did the little guy get under our covers anyway?!
I found a little comfort when the Lord brought to mind the verse stated above... by no means do we live in a king's palace, but it made me feel better to think that lizards can be found there too.

princess place
Yesterday we spent the day at the Princess Place Preserve. We told the girls where we were going and the conversation on the way down was quite entertaining. "Is that where Sleeping Beauty lives?" ...brief pause... "How about Belle, does she live there?" ...brief pause... "Is it where Ariel lives? Where does Ariel live?" I tried to explain that a different princess used to live at the lodge a long time ago... she married into the Russian royal family. "Oohh" was the response I got. Even though "the princesses" didn't live at the preserve, the girls had a great time enjoying the outdoors and it was a fun outing for our whole family!

four month fun
Our sweet Chloe continues to be a joy to our family. She is growing up so fast and this last month has seen a lot of firsts for her. She's started rolling over some and has become a side/tummy sleeper because of it. Right before she turned 4 months, she started sleeping 11-12 hours a night... that lasted for 5 nights and then she decided she needed to grow some more, which meant waking me up in the wee hours of the morning again. Thankfully, she's now back to sleeping 10-11 hours at night! She's able to play in the exersaucer now and sit in the bumbo seat. She's getting better at holding toys and anything she can get her hands on goes straight to her mouth. She's found her voice and has become quite loud at times squealing and making a noise that resembles a cat... you'd think she was fussing, but when you look at her, she's smiling and perfectly happy! Chloe has also started eating cereal twice a day. She wasn't too sure about it the first time we tried, but she's getting the hang of it now and seems to really like it. She's also been very patient with me as I'm adjusting to feeding her while trying to get breakfast for A and E or preparing dinner!
Our long and lean one... her stats at her 4 month check up a few weeks ago...11 lbs. 81/2 oz. (10th%) and 25 in. (75th%)!
"talking"
first time to try cereal... not too sure about this...

indescribably good
I have to give a shout out to Zaxby's, which originated in my hometown of Statesboro. One opened here earlier this week and we ate there for dinner tonight. We've only gone to Zaxby's as a family a few times, either in Statesboro or on our way to Birmingham... so it was really funny when we sat down in the booth tonight and Arden said, "Mama, are we gonna stay in the hotel tonight?"
No, thankfully we're only 5 minutes from home and I have to say it's an "indescribably good" addition to our small town!

a day with Gram and Uncle Bud
Last week we were able to go up to St. Simon's for the day to see Woody's Uncle Bud and grandmother, Gram, who was down visiting. We had a really nice visit with Gram and the girls absolutely loved playing and feeding the ducks with Uncle Bud!
